In this activity you can measure the speeds of recession and distances to eight clusters of galaxies. By plotting a graph of speed against distance and then calculating the gradient of the graph, you can determine a value for the Hubble constant. This number quantifies the expansion rate of the Universe and can also be used to calculate its age.
