Mitosis, Meiosis and Recombination

In this activity (Activity 4.3 in Book 5) you will investigate cell division and the accompanying process of nuclear division, mitosis. Then you will study the two successive nuclear divisions of meiosis, the process that accompanies the production of gametes. The behaviour of chromosomes during meiosis is important because it shows how the physical movement of genes and their alleles gives rise to genetic variation.
