A Geological Field Trip

This computer-based resource takes you on a virtual field trip to three different sites in southwest England to investigate sedimentary rocks deposited in the Permian and Triassic Periods, now exposed in coastal cliffs. You can move around each of these settings, and explore the rocks there on a range of scales, from the whole cliff face down to hand specimens.

A Geological Field Trip is the focus of Activity 7.2 (in Book 6) and will develop your skills of observing geological features and specimens, of recording your observations both in notes and in sketches, and of making deductions about the environment in which sediments were deposited.

Once you have read the Itinerary we suggest you read the information in the various 'Guide' screens starting with the Introduction. These are accessible through the Guide button on the bar at the bottom of the screen in A Geolological Field Trip.
