These guidelines may help you in the drafting and refinement of your proposal.

There are two routes you can follow:

• you may select from the list of suggested topics or
• choose and submit your own topic for approval

It might help you to look at some past dissertations; this word document contains a list of example dissertations that have all passed M801 which may be obtained in hard-copy by contacting the M801-Office. Some are also available for download from this link 'Examples of previous dissertations'.

At this early stage you can get informal advice as to the general suitability of your proposed topic area from staff on the Postgraduate Technology and Computing (PTC) Office in the East Midlands.
